75th Members Meeting 17th/18th March . .

A mixed bag of results, weather and success from five cars on the Weslake Trophy grid. Clive Cocks with 210 was in survival mode having had some technical maladies in the immediate lead up to the event and making sure he got to race on Sunday - Graham Robson in 202 qualifies as a regular at Goodwood and was comfortable from the off - Ian Hulett in 401 was scratching his head after practice and knew something needed altering to release more speed - 208 blew a head gasket after a lap and left a frustrated driver just where he was in 2010. But - Richard Woolmer in BXN threw the yellow Sprite on to pole by nearly two seconds in the damp and set a template for an exciting race the next day.

Race - a dry morning gave the advantage to the front row Lenham of James Coburn who wore larger profile tyres and therefore had more grip. Woolmer stayed with him though, at times side by side through the fast Fordwater section, and they swapped places regularly in the first four laps. A lunge at the chicane as Colburn dipped a rear boot on to the grass at Woodcote and lost momentum put Woolmer in a popular lead, but yellow flags for Paul Woolmer's Turner and the Sprite of Gordon Elwell at St Marys scuppered his advantage. Woolmer inched ahead again but went wide at Madgwick, and as he rejoined, the Sprite of James Dean was unsighted on a wide line, the two collided heavily and the race was red flagged. From the re-start Colburn was not to be caught and the Midget GT of Thomas Grindall and Lenham of Mike Haigh made up the podium. Hulett's 6th became the WSM highlight as 208 threw another engine tantrum after four laps, Clive retired 210 with overheating after the red flag and before the re-start, and Graham cruised home 18th in 202.
